Weekly Bagels & Torah with Rabbi Tom
Sunday, December 3, 10, 17 at 10:00 am
In Person at CKA & On ZOOM
The ancient Jewish sages describe the Torah as a love letter from God to humanity. Every year, we re-read, re-examine, and struggle with this letter on Shabbat. Join Rabbi Tom for a tour of the weekly Torah portion, Jewish history and philosophy, mining from our 5,000 year old tradition meaning and wisdom for the 21st Century. A light bagel and cream cheese breakfast will be served. For more information, please contact Rabbi Tom at the CKA office.

Prophets series begins November
Maggid Paul Solyn will offer a series of five classes on the named prophets during November and December. While prophecy plays a role in the Torah, and the books of Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings, in which prophets figure prominently, are classed as part of the division of N’vi’im (Prophets), this series will study prophets for whom entire books are named. The classes won’t attempt to read each book in its entirety, focusing on characteristic and illuminating sections of each, and will also include the history of each prophet’s time.
The dates and prophets:
December 4—Jeremiah, who prophesied exile and lived to see it
December 11—The second Isaiah, and are there other Isaiahs?
December 18—Exile and return: Ezekiel, Haggai, and Zechariah, and are there modern prophets?
The classes will be held on
Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m.,
beginning November 20, and will meet in the Jerome & Etkind Library and on Zoom.

Outside of Office Hours
The Office has been hard at work the last several months training Brasha in the inner workings of the Administrator Job. And now, six months in, we are starting an email to use outside of office hours.
If you have an emergency or an urgent matter outside of office hours in which you need to contact Brasha or the Rabbi, please email officeadmin@kolamielmira.org.
Please only use this email for urgent matters. All other emails should still be directed to the office email at office@kolamielmira.org.
Attention Snowbirders
If you have a winter address you escape to, its about that time. The birds are flying south, and soon we’re sure you will be!
When you go, please be sure to alert the office so that we can get your address changed for the season! Stay warm for us!
Attention Everyone
Keeping our building and our community safe is a priority for us in the office and for the Security Committee. So, when you come to the building, if you buzz in, we will be asking for names before we open the door, so we can be sure who we are letting into the building. Please don’t be offended when we ask for your name or what you need, we are just trying to keep you and all of us safe! Thank you for your cooperation!
CKA Healing List
The Office would like to thank everyone for your help in our work on the CKA Healing List. From now on, when adding new names to the list, we will be taking the name of the person giving us the name, and a relationship so we can be sure to keep tabs on everyone’s healing!
We are also happy to say we now have a new, easier way for you to add names to the list! If you choose, you can click here to fill out an online form to add names to the list at any time! However, if new tech doesn’t suite your fancy, we will always add names to the list via email or phone call to the office!
Judaica Shop
The Sisterhood gift shop has their regular items and cards in stock. The gift shop will be open any time the CKA office is open.
If you have special Judaica needs, please contact Susan Seltzer.
Do you shop at TOPS or WEIS??
The office has extra gift cards for both stores for sale.
